Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Village Plaza

Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Village Plaza

About this project

What an honour to have worked on the heart of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Village and the future Southeast False Creek neighbourhood. The ribs of the plaza represent a boat tipped on its side, the same scale as those that were built in the nearby shipyard. The Salt Building, beautifully restored by Acton Ostry Architects, forms the back drop of the plaza but also sits at the original shoreline. The arcs of the plan represent the scribing used by ship builders as a template to cut the hull steel. We worked closely with PFS Studio, the landscape architect and our client.
